About Sisel Gelman
Sisel Gelman was raised in Mexico City and moved to Alaska to write her first novel. Since then, she has lived in five other cities across four countries.
Her work has been published over 60 times by presses and magazines like No Reply Press, ANGLES Magazine, and The Emerson Review.
Sisel attended the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference during the summer of 2019. She was a finalist for the 2021 Boston Public Library's Writer-In-Residence program, and she was a finalist in the upcoming reality TV show 'America's Next Great Author.' Sisel was a speaker at the 2024 International Publishers Congress on the topic of BookTok and Gen Z consumer habits in the publishing industry. She is the founder of SIEVA Magazine.
Her writing has been nominated for two EVVY Awards, won first place at the 2023 and 2024 ICPA Awards, won the SAIC MFAW Fellowship judged by Daniel Borzutzky, and #siselgelman has over 3.2 million views on TikTok.
She holds a BFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College, an MFA in Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and is pursuing an MA at the Bread Loaf School of English.
She identifies as Queer, Latina, and Jewish, among many other multitudes in her identity.
